Artist's Comment:
"We are confronted with an electrifying contrast between beatific images of angels in the upper half of the painting and two monstrous anacondas in the lower half. To the right of the center we find five apprentice shamans participating in a ritual for acquiring spiritual knowledge.
Watched over by angels who are ecstatic for the opportunity to teach them, the shamans are being energized by powerful rays emanating from the bodies of the two anacondas. These two mythological snakes are known in the Amazon as Sachamamas. Usually depicted with trees growing on their backs, the sachamamas are the mothers of the forest and the ultimate gatekeeper of all life forms within her realm. Here we find her participating in the education of these young shamans in what I refer to as 'A rare and Magnificent moment.'"
